Comprehensive Compensation Claims

Negotiations often commence with the acquiring authority offering you compensation assessed by their chosen valuer. You are under no obligation to accept this figure and its often only a reflection of part of your full entitlement to compensation.

As with all acquisitions there are many hidden impacts that aren't immediately visible. With my experience working on complex acquisitions, I will work with you to get a greater understanding of all the impacts on you and your property or business.

Once the impacts are well understood, I will work with you, the necessary experts (valuers, etc.), and the acquiring authority to determine the appropriate compensation or mitigation actions required.

Having your land acquired by negotiation or through a compulsory acquisition process requires careful consideration and being aware of your rights is important. With an in depth understanding of the Public Works Act and relevant case law, I am able to advise you on your options and your rights as a landowner.

One of your rights under the Public Works Act is seeking appropriate advice, of which your reasonable costs are recoverable (paid by the acquiring authority). Knowing you can seek expert advice, with the reasonable costs being covered, will help reduce the burden and stress of an acquisition.
